1 Chronicles 16:34 (NLT)
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever
This year, our church was able to bless 10 local families with a Thanksgiving dinner that they might not have otherwise had. We went in groups; the kids and I, and another woman and her daughter. The box that we delivered was to a homeless single mother to 5 children. As I understand, the local school system is paying for her and her children to live in the motel room where we delivered their meal. What struck me immediately when we arrived was how small the motel room was. There were 2 beds, a dorm refrigerator, and a microwave, plus a bathroom of course. I have been praying for this family since we delivered their box. As a mom to 4 children, I just cannot imagine the difficulty of being a single mom to 5 children, with no permanent place to live. I know that this family is thankful for their meal and for the room that they live in. I really believe that delivering the meal impacted my children quite a bit. This is the first time we’ve ever done any type of ministry like this before, and I feel so blessed to have been able to participate.
I am so grateful to my Lord for dying for me so that one day I can live in paradise with him. I am most thankful for my awesome husband, who works so hard to provide for our not-so-small family, and is so kind and considerate (AND Hot!). I am thankful for my 4 children who are spunky and each have their own unique personalities. I am thankful for my home; it may be small for us, but it serves to keep us out of the elements and keeps us comfortable. I am thankful for the freedom to home school my children. They may drive me crazy every day, but I love being at home with them and having them with me. I am thankful for 2 vehicles that get us back and forth safely where we need to go. I am thankful for the abundance of food we have to eat. I am thankful for the Internet that allows me to shop from home and not have to deal with the crazies (yeah, I went there. You know it’s true).
Dear readers, what are YOU thankful for today?
