It came last week. I think it took right around a week or a little less for it to arrive. It is so much bigger than I expected it to be! I purchased the 9 tray economy version. So far, I’ve dried apples, strawberries, bananas, bell peppers, and made wheat crackers. I can’t wait to make yogurt with it. It’s even got a door on the front to keep the warm air inside, and an adjustable thermostat. I’m more than a little excited. I just need to get another set of shelves for the kitchen so that I have a place to put it, along with some other small appliances, and everything will be a little more organized. For my next major kitchen purchase, I plan to get a Bosch mixer. It will likely be a while before I get one of those. They’re in the $400 range, but SO worth it. Of course, I want most of the attachments that go with it. I’d love to try my hand at making my own pasta, and a blender and food processor are pretty much a must in my opinion.
Our chickens are still doing awesome. We get at least 7 eggs a day from the hens we collect from. We have 3 hens that we’re letting lay eggs to hatch. The 2 Banty hens are with a Banty rooster, then we have a bigger black hen with a matching rooster. I can’t remember what kind they are, I’ll have to ask Jerm when he gets home later if I don’t forget. All I know is that they lay brown eggs. The Araucanas lay green eggs mostly, sometimes we get pink ones, too, though.
