Snowmageddon 2015, Part Deux

Well, we continued to get more snow this week. We had a little break Monday, but by Tuesday it was back. Wednesday night, we received 5 more inches of the white stuff! Some folks are still excited, and others are done with it. I’m still in the middle I guess. I don’t see anymore snow in the forecast, so this may be it for the season. We shall see! It has at least made for some lovely photos.

In Freedom’s Cause ~ A Schoolhouse Crew Review

I’ve never really been one for audio books. I mean, not that I have anything against them, I just didn’t think they were my cup of tea. Members of the Schoolhouse Review Crew were given the opportunity to review the In Freedom’s Cause Single Package from Heirloom Audio Productions. Upon reading details of the CD package, my interest was piqued and so I decided to give it a go. It sounded like an interesting story, and I figured the kids would enjoy listening to it. IndoctriNation ~ A Schoolhouse Crew Review

I think most Christian families would agree that Christianity in America in general, and especially in public schools has drastically declined over the years. Some think that no religion should be taught in schools, and others may think that God should be taught in schools. I think most of us agree that morality is seriously lacking in today’s society. That’s not to say everyone is horrible, but we don’t seem to hold ourselves up to the same standards that we did not so long ago even. If your kids are in public school, do you ever stop to winder what they’re being taught? Are they limited in her discussions? What’s taboo?

Snowmageddon 2015

Well, we finally got a good snow here in Tennessee t his Winter season. Some have dreaded it, others looked forward to it. I’m kind of in the middle I guess. It did give us a chance to break in the new wood stove. We’ve been burning wood all week to save electricity. I believe this is the coldest it’s been all season. We have been cooped up in the house all week, mama is ready to get out! It doesn’t look like much, but we also had freezing rain that made the roads dangerous.

I also used the wood heat for cooking. We kept the stove burning day and night, so using the heat for cooking was a no-brainer. I mostly made soups, like chili, chicken noodle, and potato. I let the soups cook for several hours, which made them so flavorful.

I even made some buttermilk biscuits on the stove! I mean hey, if we have this heat going on, we might as well utilize it. That’s what I love most about the wood stove. Using it for heat and cooking both really saves money.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Not really an exciting day here. Jeremy put the finishing touches on the wood stove, and we went to a lovely couples’ Valentine’s dinner at church tonight. It was lots of fun, with great food from Texas Roadhouse. The best part was that I didn’t have to cook! How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day?
