Lately, the kids seem to be so unmotivated to do schoolwork. We currently use Switched on Schoolhouse for the 2 oldest, and workbooks for the middle boy. Next school year, I’m thinking of doing year-round schooling, and using more books instead of the computer so much. I’m having trouble deciding what curriculum to use, though. I’ve seen a few that look interesting, but the cost makes me a bit ill. So far the 2 that really caught my eye are Sonlight and Weaver. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to chime in.
I’m going to try my hand at making sourdough. I began my starter a few days ago, and so far so good I think. I’ve had bubbles and it smells sour, but I don’t think it’s growing any yet, unless I’m feeding it. I signed up for the Basic monthly plan over at GNOWFGLINS, and Wardeh has some awesome ideas and recipes over there! I made her Soaked Buttermilk Biscuits recipe, only I used milk kefir instead of buttermilk, because it’s what I had. I also used spelt berries/flour instead of soft white wheat like I normally do. Let me tell you, those are the BEST biscuits I’ve made using fresh ground flour. They are light and flaky. You need to try the recipe! It does take some planning because you soak the flour first, but the time is worth it.
Have a blessed day!
