So, when we were remodeling our house to move into, my husband and I had a hard time deciding on the living room color. I wanted a greenish-grey, and I can’t remember what he wanted. He didn’t like anything I showed him, until I found this dark reddish-pink color. I figured I could tolerate it.
I couldn’t. It’s been driving me nuts for 10 months. Plus, the paint we got was weird or something. Everything sticks to it like glue. Like it’s tacky. Well, I couldn’t take it anymore. My husband told me to pick whatever color I wanted, and we’d repaint. So I did, and we did. I decided to go with flat paint this time, because I figured it wouldn’t be tacky like the semi-gloss we used the first time. Of course, the kids helped. It also gave us a chance t run all of our TV wires into the wall for a less cluttered look. I am loving the new look! Tell me what you think!

Christmas Crack~A True Delicacy!
Ok, so maybe it’s not really a delicacy, but certainly delicious! I first learned of this toffee-life treat a few years ago on a mommy forum that I’m a member of. Everyone was raving over the recipe, and when we all tried it…WOW! The best part, is that the ingredients are very affordable, and it makes quite a bit. There are lots of variations for the recipe, but this is the one that I’ve found works very well. For this batch, I made half with a chocolate topping, and half I added grey celtic sea salt to the top.
Christmas Crack
1 1/2 cups of butter, usually 2.5 sticks. Do NOT use margarine. Yuck
1 sleeve of saltine crackers, maybe more
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup of chocolate chips
Celtic sea salt to taste
Preheat your oven to 400. Line a 11×17 (or so) cookie sheet with foil, then grease the foil with whatever you use to grease things (butter, lard, cooking spray). Place as many crackers as you can fit on the baking sheet so that they lie flat.
Add the butter and brown sugar to a saucepan. You need to bring it to a boil. I like to do this slowly so that it doesn’t get away from me.
Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat just enough to keep it at a boil, and set a timer for 3 minutes. Whisk the mixture occasionally to keep the goodness from sticking to the bottom of the pot, and also to keep it from riding up the sides too much.
Do you like my timer? It’s really cool. I usually use my stove timer, but sometimes I remember that I have this one!
Move quickly for this next part. When 3 minutes are up, pour the slick goodness all over the crackers. Then smooth the mixture out evenly as much as possible without disturbing the crackers too much.
Place the baking sheet in the oven for exactly 5 minutes. Once you take it out, sprinkle on the toppings. I like to put the baking sheet back in the oven for a few minutes to help the chocolate chips melt faster (at this point, the oven is off, but still warm).
Take the baking sheet back out of the oven, then use a spreader to spread the chocolate around. Allow the candy to cool thoroughly, and then break it into pieces. You could put it in an airtight jar, but I just leave mine on the baking sheet, because it doesn’t last very long!
This stuff is SO good, y’all. There’s a reason it’s called Crack. Make some to try, and then tell me you don’t love it and want more. I dare you.
Enjoy!

Celtic Christmas CD Review
*Disclaimer: I received this product for free from Family Christian in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
I love Celtic music so much, so I was excited to receive the Celtic Christmas CD! It’s a 2-disc set, and features 25 songs total. Christmas will be upon us shortly, and this is perfect for getting your family in the mood to celebrate the holiday! My husband’s family has an Irish background, so I love finding ways to incorporate anything Irish-related into our family lives. The music is simply beautiful, and even soothing. I’ve been enjoying the music while driving, and I’ll also enjoy it when I start decorating the house for Christmas! Here are the songs:
Disc 1
Away In A Manger
Christ Was Born On Christmas Day
Christmas In Killarney
Deck The Halls
The First Noel
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
I Saw Three Ships
In The Bleak Midwinter
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
Jolly Old St. Nicholas
Little Drummer Boy
Noel Nouvelet
Disc 2

O Holy Night
The Seven Joys Of Mary
Silent Night
What Child Is This?
Sussex Carol
Caroling, Caroling
Coventry Carol
Here We Come A-Wassailing

Huron Carol
Most of the songs are your standard Christmas songs, but some of them are new to me, and all are performed beautifully. Everyone needs to add this CD set to their collection, and at just under $8, it’s really a great deal! The music would be so wonderful to listen to on a cold night by the fire or around the Christmas tree with your family. Be sure to get your copy soon!
Mucinex Children’s Multi-Symptom Cold Liquid Review
So, you know I typically like to avoid OTC meds as much as I can in favor of more natural products for my family’s health. However, I know that sometimes I need to break out the super heavy artillery when we aren’t getting the relief we need. I was sent a free bottle of Mucinex Children’s Multi-Symptom Cold Liquid to try, and it couldn’t have arrived at a more perfect time. Since the weather has turned cold, 2 of my boys and I have been hacking our brains out almost non-stop. Nothing else that I tried worked. However, soon after their first doses, the boys felt markedly better. I didn’t want to resort to OTC meds but desperate times call for desperate measures. The liquid has a pleasant odor, but nobody cared for the taste. It wasn’t as bad as I remember cough syrup being when I was a youngster, but the boys still wanted to wash the taste down with water. I am pretty impressed with how well and quickly the liquid worked. It relieved their coughs and congestion, and the relief lasted for quite some time.
