A couple of months ago, I was eligible to upgrade my cell phone. At the time that my eligibility first rolled around, the new phone that I wanted was somewhat out of my price range. I knew that if I waited another month or so, I could get it. So, that’s what I did. Low and behold, the price of my phone dropped by $50! Soon after, I learned that the Schoolhouse Review Crew was gearing up to review mobile device cases from Trident Case, so I decided to jump in and upgrade my phone. God’s timing is truly perfect. I was getting my new awesome phone, and getting to test out a new case for it at the same time. What a blessing! I upgraded from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5S, so I received a Kraken A.M.S. Case for Apple iPhone 5/5S. This case if for all ages (well, if you’re old enough for a phone or let your children play on yours), and the price is $49.95 and also includes a belt clip/holster. I was pretty excited about this because of the name. Release the Kraken!
When I had my iPhone 4, I let my children play apps on it quite often. I knew that when I upgraded to my new phone, I would give them my old one to use as an iPod and ban them from using my 5S. I also knew that they would forget they couldn’t touch my new phone and try to run off with it. My phone has been dropped several times, and with no damage to the phone. The case is tight-fitting, and may be a little tricky to get on at first, but once it’s on, your device is nice and secure (yes, I picked my phone up to shake and see if it jiggled in there). One thing I try to be aware of, is since the speakers are not completely covered, I try to keep my phone in my pocket top side up if it rains, because the top of the phone is totally closed in. The headphone jack, charger port, and ringer control switch are all easily accessible. When I first felt the TPE material, I was skeptical that the phone would easily slide in and out of my pocket, because there is a slight resistance when you rub the material. However, my phone slides in and out very easily. This is a plus for me since my phone is almost always in my pocket during the day. The screen is easily cleaned with a microfiber cloth (both inside and out if needed. I always manage to touch my screen when I install a case or something). The belt clip is nice if you don’t like to keep your phone in your pocket, but I don’t generally use it. It holds your phone nice and secure, but it takes me 2 hands to take my phone out of it, so it’s more time consuming to remove. I do notice that, because of the media stand (when it’s not in use and is folded in), when my phone is laying flat on a surface, it sort of wobbles when I am tapping on the screen. This of course doesn’t affect the performance of the case whatsoever, and is easily remedied by removing the stand, which itself isn’t difficult to do. The case isn’t waterproof, so I did not put my phone in water, but it rained several times while I was out and about, and I’m sure my phone was exposed to some rain. There was no damage from that, either.
Okay, so what do I think about the Kraken A.M.S. iPhone 5/5S Case from Trident Case? Well, I really like it! I like the protection that it gives my phone. I like that there isn’t a lot of bulk added to my phone, and really love easily being able to slide my phone in and out of my pocket. I also like how easy the ports are to access. I would like to make a couple of case suggestions. One, I really wish there was a purple Kraken A.M.S. case, because, as we all know, purple is the most fabulous color ever. My next suggestion is that, if possible, to have cases with the TPE material being white. I think that would look nicer with phones having a white face. If you’re looking for a strong but nice case to protect your phone, Trident Case is definitely a great option, and they have several cases to choose from. I for sure recommend you check them out. I’m very happy with my case.
