I can hardly believe that it’s nearly the middle of the second month in the year already. I admit, I’m a bit thankful for that. I have not enjoyed this cold weather at all (okay, I never do). I love that it’s not totally dark here at 6 in the evening anymore. It’s not as bright as I like, but there is still a bit of sun peaking over the horizon. The promise of Spring brings me closer to my favorite season of the year, Summer.
I am trying to decide what to do with our garden this year. Based on last year’s experience, I am never plating carrots again. Never, ever, ever. I definitely plan to plant green beans, beets, cucumbers, and squash. I will probably also plant some salad greens. I planted some last year for the first time, and they grew wonderfully! I love eggplant, but I’m the only person here who does, and I think I’m allergic to it. Figures, right? I wish I had the motivation to have a Winter garden, but I hate the cold. I am surprised that I still have home canned green beans, beets, and pickles left. My goal was to make them last through the Winter, and so far so good. Mostly because I think I forget that they’re there. Last year was the first time that I canned a substantial amount of food.
As for school, the 2 oldest kids have been working on learning the Irish language. All of the kids have been working on learning the books of the Bible. I’m not sure why I waited so long to do this, but I digress. SO far, they are doing great! Lucas is still using the app that we reviewed last year. It’s like a mini chalkboard for your mobile device. He loves it!
My husband has worked the last two Saturdays, so I’m hoping we get some organizing accomplished today in the house. There are still a lot of things that don’t have a place yet, and it’s driving me batty! I’m sure those of you who’ve moved recently know what I mean.
