Greene Bark Press is a family-owned business based in Connecticut, and began in 1991. They only publish books they feel most valuable to book readers, and also sell books whose philosophies are similar to theirs. Even with all of the current technology we have today, Green Bark Press still believes in the power of the printed book.
I got SO excited when I heard about Look Left, Look Right, Look Left Again from Greene Bark Press. Lucas is nearly 5, and is about as impatient as I am. Maybe even more so! He gets so frustrated with having to hold anyone’s hand to cross the road or when we’re walking into an establishment somewhere.
This is a nice, thick, sturdy board book recommended for ages 3-8, and retails for $8.50 plus shipping. The book is written my Ginger Pate, and we get to follow along with Wally Waddlewater as he learns the rules for crossing the road from his Mama Waddlewater. Wally has just finished making a Birthday card for his Grandmother, and needs to go to town to mail it to her. He has a little trouble remembering the rules for crossing the street, so Mama Waddlewater is there every step of the way to teach him! Through the course of the story, we see Wally and Mama look for cars, school buses, firetrucks, elephants, and trains. Finally, Wally learns the rules for crossing the street, and can even go visit his Grandma all by himself!
This book is very nice and sturdy and colorful. Lucas and I both love the story and illustrations. The kids have a friend that lives just across the road from us who they play with often, so I knew this book would be perfect for Lucas. We are still working on the patience part of having to look left, right, and left again, and he still likes for me to watch him walk across the road if he’s going by himself, but we really enjoyed the book very much. This is a great book for families to go over safety rules for crossing the road!
