I have a mad love for books, especially books that are historical in nature. I really love books that are set in pioneer or earlier times. As part of TOS Review Crew, my daughter and I were blessed with the opportunity to review Thick as Thieves from Circle C Milestones, and written by Susan K. Marlow. This is the start of a new Christian Fiction series geared for children ages 12+. It’s 173 pages and 26 chapters long. We also received a download study guide, which is free, that accompanies the book.

Spring is Here!
At least I think it has? We had warm temps all of this week, and then last night it decided to snow. Not enough to accumulate, but it’s cold this weekend!
I’ve been busy taking an aromatherapy course through Aromahead Institute. Three classes, actually. One is a free Intro to Essential Oils class. It was pretty short but still packed with info. The other two are a body butter and lip balm class, and the last is Aromatherapy for Natural Living. It’s so fun and I’ve already learned a lot of information. Andrea peppers the class with instructional videos. I’ve really enjoyed watching them. Aromatic International offers pre-made kits for all of Andrea’s classes, and if you go here, you can get $10 off of your first order! I have also been able to find a few products at my local health food store. I’ve already made some aromatherapy inhalers for the boys. Once I get more supplies I’ll try my hand at making lip balm and body butter. I’m eventually planning to enroll in the aromatherapy certification course in order to become a certified aromatherapist. I’ll have to save up for a while, first.
Happy Spring!
An Exciting Change!
It isn’t blog-related, but it is related to me! I’ll post soonly what it is, but I cannot wait! What do you think it might be?!
GPA Learn ~ A Schoolhouse Crew Review
So, by now you know that Math is my least favorite subject to teach. In fact, I’d probably pay someone to teach Math to my kids if I could. Alas, I’m stuck doing it myself. As part of the Schoolhouse Review Crew, our family was given a year’s access to GPALOVEMATH from GPA LEARN. GPALOVEMATH is available for grades K-5, so Ethan and Lucas were the lucky contestants for this review.
Homeschool Co-op
I am so excited that our family has been able to attend our local homeschool co-op again! We used to attend somewhat regularly, but stopped a few years ago. It was so hard to motivate the boys to get up and go early in the morning, and arguing just wasn’t worth it to me. They’re a bit older now, so I decided it was time to start back up.
Our homeschool co-op is a Christian-based one, and I love being able to fellowship with like-minded homeschoolers. I’ve missed the other moms that I made friendships with. Keeping in touch on Facebook is nice, but sometimes even I, being fairly anti-social, enjoy hanging out with my friends. The kids also enjoyed seeing the friends that they made a few years back, and making new friends.
Co-op typically consists of 3 1-hour classes for elementary/middle grade. High School grades are different, but we aren’t there yet. We are only taking 2 classes. We came back in at the middle of the year, so that cut into class availability somewhat. Parents get 1 free hour. My working hour is as a hall monitor. Fun, right? I’ve totally thought about getting myself a cool uniform to wear, but that would embarrass the kids I’m guessing.
If you’re a homeschooler, does your family participate in co-op? If not, is there a local one available to you?
Visual Learning Systems ~ A Schoolhouse Crew Review
I’m one of those lucky folks who doesn’t retain information very well…at all. The only things I can really remember from my own school days are what I learned in English classes, and a few basic Math, Science, and Social Studies tidbits. I learned as an adult that I am definitely a kinesthetic learner as opposed to just visual or audio. That’s what I love about homeschooling my own children. I can cater to whatever individual needs they have. Our family was given a year’s access to Digital Science Online: Elementary Edition (Grades K-5) and Digital Science Online: Secondary Edition (Grades 6-12) from Visual Learning Systems.
